“It (IPL 2020 schedule) will be announced tomorrow,” Brijesh Patel was quoted as saying in an ANI report. It remains to be seen whether the originally planned opener between defending champions Mumbai Indians and last year's runners-up Chennai Super Kings would go ahead.
Few days back, 13 members of the CSK contingent were tested positive for Coronavirus, which included players Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar. All of them though were declared Covid negative in subsequent tests, raising hopes of the high-profile MI vs CSK clash going ahead.
CSK were the last team to begin their practice session, which they started on Friday in Dubai. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and all other CSK players, excluding Chahar and Gaikwad underwent training on Friday.
Chahar and Gaikwad would only be able to join the rest of the members after completing their quarantine, and clearing their further tests. CSK had to delay the start of their training owing to the Covid-affected players.
Not just Coronavirus, the CSK camp has also been hit badly as two of their star performers Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh have pulled out of IPL 2020 citing personal reasons. Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and India captain Virat Kohli had warned everyone against breaking the bio-secure bubble, stating that no one is here to have fun.
