Kings XI Punjab pulled off a tremendous upset chasing down the huge target of 206 set by Chennai Super Kings with seven balls to spare.

Kings XI Punjab pulled off a tremendous upset chasing down the huge target of 206 set by Chennai Super Kings with seven balls to spare. Glenn Maxwell shone in the run chase for Kings XI Punjab with an absolute blinder of a knock to take them home with a 6-wicket win.

Glenn Maxwell pounded the CSK bowlers for 95 runs in 43 balls with 15 fours and 2 sixes. South African David Miller who shared a century stand with Maxwell wrapped up the match with an unbeaten 54 from 37 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes.

Earlier, CSK batted as if they were in a great hurry. A deadly opening combination of Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum smashed 123 runs in 12.4 overs. McCullum was the most destructive with 67 from 45 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes. Dwayne Smith scored 66 from 43 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Skipper MS Dhoni chipped in with 26 from 11 balls to help CSK finish with 205 for 4.

Toss and Teams: Chennai Super Kings have won the toss and opted to bat first against Kings XI Punjab at Abu Dhabi in Match 3 of IPL 7. Faf du Plessis, Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Bravo and Dwayne Smith are the four foreign players in the CSK XI. Kings XI Punjab’s foreign players are their Skipper George Bailey, David Miller, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Johnson.
