Toss: Delhi Daredevils, who chose to bowl
Head-to-head:Rajasthan have won all of their last 6 Matches against Delhi. The last time Delhi beat Rajasthan was in 2012 in Jaipur - their only win at this venue.
Preview:Rajasthan struggled with their batting in their opening fixture and their decision to play D’Arcy Short meant that they had play Rahul Tripathi down the order, even after him tasting success as an opener in the last season. Yes, the ball did nip around when they batted but one would expect more from a lineup that has Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Ajinkya Rahane.
Sanju Samson was the only positive for them in their opening fixture and Delhi’s leg spinners would be looking forward to bowling at Ben Stokes, who struggled against quality wrist spin bowling. Their bowling failed to make an impact as well and with hardly any surprise element in their attack, they were badly exposed.
For Delhi, it was more about being taken aback by a mind-blowing innings from KL Rahul. Having said that, they will need more runs from their top order, which, apart from skipper Gautam Gambhir looked out of sorts. It might even make sense for Delhi to have Chris Morris bat a little higher up the order than what he is right now.
Match Stats:
Gautam Gambhir’s 55 in the first match was the fifth time he registered a fifty plus score in his first match of the season.
D’Arcy Short is 30 runs short of 1000 T20 career run
In 15 innings against Delhi, Rahane has scored 632 runs at an average of 63.20 with six scores above fifty. He needs 39 more runs to topple Rohit as the highest run- getter against them in IPL.
